As Windows 7 is bringing more touch and ink features to the table – I would love to see the Live Team bring a few of their own!
Messenger has had inking capabilities for a while now – and I actually use it quite a lot! As I am a tablet user, I spend a lot of time in “slate” mode without access to a keyboard…. Although I like the TIP that is included with Windows 7 – I do prefer just to jot my notes and thoughts down straight in ink – I dont have to worry about my writing not being recognized by the tip ( I just feel sorry for the people that I am inking too!)
I would like to see Ink support in Windows Live Mail! I love the thought of being able to hand-write emails! (Again, much to the despair of others I would assume). But theres definitely something nicer about being able to write rather than type! it looks better, its more fun and easier to format – plus it can be fun and useful to draw diagrams etc!
Obviously it wouldn’t be ideal for "official” work – but surely a nice message to a friend in ink wouldn’t be so bad!
Now for those tablet-eers out there, you will probably know that Outlook already has the ability to ink emails….however Outlook (in my eyes) is not a consumer product, its too much for the average user – Windows Live Mail – as part of the Essentials is more my cup of tea..
(Of course if the Live Team got smart – they would also allow inking in Webmail too – check out the inking at the Gottabemobile forums for more web-based inking)
Its just occurred to me also that Live Writer should also include inking capabilities…. Although I am not sure I would want to write a whole blog in ink… the odd tidbit or the ability to write over pictures and annotate the blog would be quite a cute feature!
I don’t really know how successful this plea will be – but with the rise of touch computing, it would seem a nice addition if it could be implemented…. Your thoughts?
