You Can Link To It
There has been quite a bit of questions going around about leaving photo images in blog posts or peoples "Guestbooks" . Let me start this post out with that we all need to be focusing on saving bandwidth and allocating our resources and making them available for everyone to view and use!
Most people are already aware of the famous blinking and singing graphics that gained infamous popularity from such sites as MySpace, Facebook and many others. We have all seen them and some have come to enjoy them while other's look at them as a nuisance.
Let me take this a step further to explain what we are trying to communicate here! Many of us around both Live Spaces and other social networks have taken a great deal of painstaking time to develop our sites in the fashion we desire for them to appear. Although seemingly harmless to leave the graphics, often times what happen's is that the size of the graphic affects the persons over all appearance due to the size of it being to large for the layout that is presented.
My personal recommendation is to merely link to the graphic itself and allow the person to view it! I have several friend's on my Live Spaces site that do this for me and I am so grateful for that! I can view the wonderful graphics they wish me to see and from the server it is stored upon as opposed to having to view it on my spaces site and possibly distorting my site because of its size.
I am quite certain that most of you know what I mean by that! I think that the HTML portion in Live Spaces Guestbooks has been disabled and more than likely is a result from people leaving inappropriate materials on peoples sites. I know it is terrible when a couple of people can ruin it for everyone, however, look at it as Microsoft looking out for each and every one of us!
For those who may not know how to link directly to an image where it is stored, just ask and I will be more than glad to explain that process. It is quite simple and I know many of you know how to do this already!
Although, I use graphics in many of my posts...these are for illustrative purposes only and has a link embedded directly into the graphic so a person can see it in its full size. This helps to reduce the amount of bandwidth that is used up to display the graphic. Everyone enjoys the graphics but lets help each other out in how our page loads up and just provide links to them and believe me you will see an increase of response from everyone around your network of friends and family!
I hope this will help to clarify some issues on graphics and HTML coding issues and why some of the changes have been made!
