At last the new version of Windows Live Movie Maker has been released! Complete with the new easy to use ‘Ribbon’ interface, it has gone through a complete overhaul by the team, who decided to scrub the previous incarnation of Movie Maker and start from scratch. It is now much easier for novices to use thanks to the ribbon interface, but comprehensive enough for all those users who are adept at making movies from their videos and photographs. Animations are also now included and there are plenty to choose from as well.
You can now add a title using various fonts. font colours, set the colour for the background of the title and adjust the time shown for each feature as you include it. There are more transitions than you can shake a stick at and lots of new effects to add to your photos. Adding some music is also so easy to do, and if it doesn’t run the same length as your combined video, you can choose to make it fit to the length of the music track. At the end of your video, you can now add some credits, and again you have full choice over which fonts to use, and the background colour.
There is an absolute plethora of choices for you to make concerning your completed Movie, you can just save it as a normal standard definition file, or a HD 720 or even a full HD 1080p file! You can publish it to YouTube, or with the addition of plug-ins, you can publish to Facebook, Picasa, Smug Mug or other picture and video hosting sites.
If your a beginner to Movie making then you can just let Movie Maker ‘do it all for you’ by using Auto Movie, which adds a title, credits, transitions and pan and zoom effects automatically for you, including fitting the whole thing to the length of your chosen music file. Yes, the new Movie Maker really does cater for every user from the newbie to the more able user who has used previous Movie making programs.
Anyway I think the best way to illustrate the new Windows Live Movie Maker is to show you my new Movie I made earlier with the new version of Live Movie Maker! So here it is, and I have tried to demonstrate most of the transitions during making it. I do hope that you all enjoy it. It’s in 720 HD Widescreen.
