In my previous entry I mentioned about Photo Gallery crashing, and after failed to make a consistent reproduction of the matter, I’m not sure anymore what the cause is.
Marcus forwarded my problem to Photo Gallery team and I had help from Robert. The problem is “a bug in photo gallery, we're not handling a state of the contacts store correctly” thus something called Windows Live Communication Platform will crash when I used Messenger (or Mail).
Here’s the workaround steps given:
- Close Live Messenger, Live Mail and Live Photo Gallery.
Kill WLXPhotoGallery.exe (Live Photo Gallery) and wlcomm.exe (Windows Live Communication Platform) using task manager if they’re still active. - Using Run menu, go to these folder:
- On Vista: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft
- On XP: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft
- Delete the folder Windows Live Contacts.
- Launch Photo Gallery.
From the messaging also
Deleting the store will cause it to be recreated, removing the state issue. It is possible for the problem to resurface later.
But it’s working good for now. Thanks Robert :)
