Now that we have completed importing, editing and tagging our photographs into WINDOWS LIVE PHOTO GALLERY, let’s publish some photographs to WINDOWS LIVE, FLICKR and also with the help of a ‘PLUG-IN’ to FACEBOOK. All of this is very simple to do, so just follow the next steps.
I will presume here that you already have a WINDOWS LIVE ID. So let’s choose some pictures to publish shall we?
1. Open Windows Live Photo Gallery and select the photographs that you wish to publish by clicking on them. The selected ones will then turn blue.
2. When you have selected the photographs that you wish to upload, click on the PUBLISH tab on the TOOLBAR at the top of LIVE PHOTO GALLERY.
3. From the drop down list select ONLINE ALBUM.
4. If the chosen photographs are meant for inclusion in an album that you published previously on WINDOWS LIVE, then select that ALBUM from the list of your PHOTO ALBUMS available in your WINDOWS LIVE account and displayed in the window. (See picture below.)
5. If you wish to make a new ALBUM then select NEW ALBUM and then give your album a name. You can also choose your permissions for this new album from here.
6. Click on PUBLISH and the chosen photographs will then be uploaded WINDOWS LIVE. Once the upload has completed you can then view your photographs in WINDOWS LIVE.
7. If you have a FLICKR account, you can publish your chosen photographs straight to FLICKR. Just click on the PUBLISH tab as before, then select MORE SERVICES and and then select PUBLISH TO FLICKR. You will be presented with a window that asks you to authorize WINDOWS LIVE GALLERY to be able to upload your photographs to your account on the FLICKR site.
8. You will need to give your consent and once you have clicked on OK I’LL ALLOW IT, you can then return to the previous window in WINDOWS PHOTO GALLERY where you can then decide whether or not to include these chosen photographs in a SET that you have already uploaded previously, create a new SET, decide the size of the photographs to upload, and also set up the permissions to view for your uploaded photographs. When you have completed this, then just click on PUBLISH and your chosen photos will then be uploaded to your FLICKR account.
9. You can also now upload your pictures to your FACEBOOK account from WINDOWS LIVE PHOTO GALLERY. In order to do this, click on the PUBLISH tab as before but this time choose MORE SERVICES and then from the next list choose ADD A PLUG-IN.
10. You will then be taken to the Windows Live Photo & Video Blog where there is a list of available plug ins for LIVE PHOTO GALLERY for various other photo hosting sites such as FACEBOOK, PICASA, etc. Select the top one which is LIVEUPLOAD TO FACEBOOK.
11. Choose the latest version to download from the download page. This is currently version 2.0. Just follow the usual prompts in order to run and install the plug-in.
12. Once the plug in is installed on your computer, then you will be presented with another option in the list of MORE SERVICES available from the PUBLISH tab which now includes the LIVEUPLOADER TO FACEBOOK and after selecting it, you will then be presented with a window which will request whether or not you want these photographs included in an Album already in FACEBOOK or to name a new album for your photographs.
13. So after choosing your options from this screen, just click on NEXT and your chosen photographs will then be uploaded to your FACEBOOK account.
Once this is completed you can then view them in your FACEBOOK account.
NOTE. Once you have given your permission to FLICKR or the FACEBOOK UPLOADER plug in then those choices will in future be available to you from the PUBLISH list when you click on it.
As well as the PLUG-IN for FACEBOOK there are also PLUG-INS available for publishing your photographs from WINDOWS LIVE GALLERY straight to YOUTUBE, SMUGMUG and DRUPAL sites.
