Day 50: Saturday November 8th

We docked at New Caledonia island and the capital where we are is Noumea.

It’s quite a beautiful place with very friendly people but I found the village too hot and went back to the ship after an hour on the internet and another hour wandering around the town center which had all kinds of crafts and local dance at the city center.

At 5PM we had a sail away party onboard and many people agreed that New Caledonia was a place to revisit.

Day 51: Sunday November 9th

Today is a day at sea and it is very nice outside as long as you’ re in the shade … it is not humid and the breeze is very nice.

Day 52: Monday November 10th

Today we are in Suva, Fiji, this is Fiji’s capital city. Not too many years back cannibalism was still accepted as the norm here but we don’t have to worry today. I was up at 7:00AM to watch the docking in Suva.

Day 53: Tuesday November 11th

Today is REMEMBERANCE DAY, VETERANS DAY OR ARMISTACE DAY … but it is also the day we cross the International Date Line so we have November 11th twice.

Tonight is the chocolate extravaganza which means more deserts but all chocolate so I was able to take pictures too.

Day 54: Tuesday November 11th

Today we are in Apia, Samoa on the island of Upolu and Apia is the capital of Western Samoa. This is where the famous Robert Louis Stevenson spent the last five years of his life and is buried behind his property.

I found it way too hot at 33C or 98F, plus humidity so I just went to the shops off pier so at least I could say I stepped foot on land in Samoa.

Idiots on the Ocean

Yesterday, about 90 minutes after we left Samoa our ship (going at a good speed by this time) spotted a small motorboat that was dead in the water and a guy was waving something red like a flag. As per Maritime law our ship tried to radio them but there was no answer, so the Captain turned the ship around and went back to them and one of our smaller boats was sent out.  As soon as we got upside the boat they started their engines and took off cause all they were doing was waving a bunch of “T” shirts hoping to make a sale. Yes because Holland America follows Maritime law like all people on the sea are supposed to, we did our duty and went back but nothing will happen to that little water craft.

And that is my rant for this cruise all though some of you might think my Blog is a rant! LOL

Day 55: Wednesday November 12th

Day one of four days at sea before we dock in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Today the seas are calm with only a swell of 4 to 6 feet but the winds are quite strong and the Captain has warned us not to go out on deck this morning … but by the afternoon the winds had died down and things were comfortable outside.

Day 56: Thursday November 13th

Today we crossed the equator, at 10:30am we had a King Neptune Party by the poolside with the Captain and crew plus the sacrifice of and a picture of me kissing the fish.

Day 57: Friday November 14th

Our third day at sea and another beautiful sunny day 28C or 82F but very rocky and swells up to 8 feet.

Day 58: Saturday November 15th

Our fourth day and the seas are about the same as yesterday and temps are about 1 degree warmer. Let me say one other thing about cruising, on the high seas this is a cashless society here.  This means you sign for everything and this is done for the guests ease and comfort of not having to carry a wallet all the time.  However, even after 58 days I see a lot of men are not comfortable doing this cause I still see the usual wallet in the back pocket. Today is a buffet extravaganza and the crew have all the food displayed on tables for picture taking.

Also we had a Tropical Ball where people tried to dress up in most tropical outfits.

Day 59: Sunday November 16th

We are in Honolulu, Hawaii and we are here overnight and won’t leave until 11:00PM on Monday night.

Today, it rained before we docked so everything seems fresh and smells good. This is my third trip to Honolulu so I did not take any tours but I did take the local bus and did the circle island tour for $2.00.

Day 60: Monday November 17th

This is our second day in Honolulu. I had a good time last night and got in at 2:30 in the morning and awoke at 9:00am to the ships horns for the crew drill, so all I did was some shopping during the day. In the evening we saw the Indonesian and Filipino crew shows put on by the people that work the hardest on this ship.

Day 61: Tuesday November 18th

Today we docked in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii... this is a very small town but I like this island the best because it is not very commercial.
