Now we need to go over adding MODULES to your new SPACE.  So let’s do that shall we?

1. Use the usual method to navigate to the CUSTOMIZE page by choosing MORE then SPACE and then CUSTOMIZE your SPACE from your HOME page.

2. Next click on the MODULES tab.  You will then be presented with the MODULES TAB drop down list. This list begins with the following header of FEATURED MODULES which are

a)  GUESTBOOK (where your visitors to your SPACE can leave a message to show that they have visited.)

b)  SKYDRIVE. (Where all your pictures, documents and music files are now stored to either share with others or just certain people on your NETWORK or just for yourself)

c)  FRIENDS. (This MODULE shows all the people that you have on your NETWORK including their picture or AVATAR.)

The Featured Modules

To the right of each MODULE name, you will see either ADD, SHOW or HIDE depending on whether or not that MODULE is visible on your SPACE. Try clicking on ADD, SHOW or HIDE to see just what happens. That MODULE  will then toggle between being included on your SPACE or not.  Below the FEATURED MODULES are other MODULES  arranged under different headings which are as follows,

Full Choice of Modules to use in your Space

SOCIAL, PHOTOS, MUSIC AND VIDEO, BLOG LISTS, GADGETS, XBOX LIVE, OTHER  and last but not least SPACES TOOLS.  In my own demo SPACE at the moment I have showing BLOG, PROFILE, PHOTO’S and FRIENDS.  For this HOW TO  I will add a MODULE that is already available and also add a GADGET that isn’t listed in the GADGET list  to show you how to do that.  So let’s add a MODULE  shall we?

3.  So let’s add the MODULE  VISITOR TOOLS from the SPACE TOOLS area.  Go down to the bottom of the MODULE TAB list and from the SPACE TOOLS  list click on SHOW to add the VISITOR TOOLS MODULE  to your SPACE.  (don’t worry if you don’t want this MODULE yourself, nothing will be changed or altered with your own SPACE until you click on SAVE)

Visitor Tools added but in the wrong place!

4. Now it has been added, but it is not where I want it to be positioned in my SPACE.  I would like it to be on the side, so click on CUSTOMISE at the top of your SPACE, then click on REARRANGE OR HIDE MODULE from the drop down list.

5. Now just move your cursor to the very top of the VISITOR TOOLS MODULE as shown, click on it with your left mouse button and HOLD,  then just DRAG the MODULE  to where you want it to be, and then release the mouse button.  If this doesn’t work right the first time, then just keep trying until the MODULE is dropped into place.

Top of the module, hold and drag

6. When you are quite happy with its new position, then click on SAVE at the top of your SPACE.

Another cool addition that I would like to add to my SPACE isn’t available from this MODULE LIST.  Its a gadget that’s only available from the GADGET GALLERY  So lets go there!

7.  From the MODULE TAB list, go down to the GADGETS list and then click on ADD GADGETS FROM WINDOWS LIVE GALLERY to be taken to the WINDOWS LIVE GALLERY page.  Hmm, I can’t see the gadget on the first page.  So I will have to do a search for it.

Gallery Page where is it search area

8. Type in the SEARCH BAR at the top of the GALLERY page KEYWORD CLOUD and then click on SEARCH.  Ahh, there it is!  Now I can download it to my SPACE.

keyword cloud found

9. Just click on DOWNLOAD and when asked where you want the GADGET to go, choose SPACE.  You will receive a warning about installing a GADGET onto your computer.  Once the GADGET is installed it will be visible for you to alter the colour of the TEXT used inside it, and the FONT used.  Hmm as before its not where I would like it to be on my SPACE, so I will move it to the side as before.

Now its where I want it to be.

10. So just follow the previous instructions to move this MODULE  to wherever you would like it to be in your SPACE.  You might prefer it along the top or perhaps underneath your PHOTO’S.  As this is just a HOW TO then if you don’t want this module adding to your own SPACE then just don’t bother to SAVE it.

Well, now you have learned how to add a MODULE, and also how to add a new MODULE from the WINDOWS LIVE GALLERY.  You have also learned how to move a MODULE  around if it isn’t where you want it to be.  Add some more MODULES to your SPACE, try different things out, try adding some LISTS to your SPACE of FILMS or BOOKS for example.  These MODULES  are there so that you can make that SPACE all your own!

Have fun!

Next I am going hunting on WINDOWS LIVE for some friends because I haven’t got any! Crying
