You might have experienced this somehow “silly” problem with Windows Live Spaces: you had created a couple of blog entries in some category, before you later changed your mind and published them under another more relevant category name – causing the first category to become empty.
Normally, empty categories are not listed in your blog categories module or the blog entries list in the fist place. However, in this very case, empty categories do stay further on on your blog listings and THEY JUST WON’T GO!
There seems to be no way to modify or delete categories using common editing options. You may only create a new category by adding a new blog entry (or more) and linking it to a new category name.
So how can you get rid of that “Useless Category”?
Go to your space > sign in > click on Options and choose Blog settings
At the end of blog settings page you’ll find a list of your active categories. Click on the (x) beside each to delete. A little drawback here is that you can’t rename categories. This might not be really that bad but yet would have been a nice extension though...
Other settings:
You can also adjust here the max. number of blog entries to appear on your space's main page. However, you can only choose among 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 – but "very sadly" not less than 5. Further settings include trackbacks configuration and ping servers notification behavior.
It’s only about finding out where the settings are hidden :)
