I use Writer for all my blog posts as most of my readers are well aware. Writer makes use of all the fonts that a user has installed on their machine. I particularly like ‘script’ type fonts myself especially the ones that look like handwriting.  But if I use these fonts when constructing a post in Writer but the person reading my post doesn’t happen to either have them on their computer (for example, the fonts used in Windows XP and Vista are not necessarily the same ones as are available in Windows 7, which is the OS I use.)  Also different fonts will also be installed on your computer when you use Office 2010 to the one’s installed in earlier incarnations of Office. Added to that equation is the particular browser that you make use of. Lot’s of fonts in one browser may not be available to you when using another. Therefore my readers will not see the same font as I intended them to see.

Ludwig. J has just done an excellent post  HERE demonstrating how you use fancy fonts in Live Writer. He also ends that post by giving the answer to the dilemma of how to enable others who  don’t have available on their computer exactly  the same font’s as you  by using a picture of that particular font instead in your post.  So here to follow up his excellent post, is my how to show your favourite font in all its glory just as you intended it to look irrespective of whether or not the viewer has that particular font on their machine.

1. Use the font in Writer that you want choosing it and its size from the FORMAT tab. I’ll use two fonts that most of you won’t have available on your machines.

Here’s one of my favourites.

It’s called Clogie.

Here is a script type font. This one is Brush Script MT.

So how do I take these fonts and allow you to see them as I see them?  Well the only work around is as Ludwig says to do a screen grab of my fonts!

2, Using the Snipping tool in Vista and Windows 7, take a grab of the area containing the writing that uses the fonts you need to show. Alternatively if you are not using either Vista or Windows 7 but have Snag It available then use that, or any other screen grabbing program.

Now all you need to do is insert your chosen paragraph or sentence etc using your favourite font into your post and everyone will then be able to see your chosen fonts as you intended.

3. See Ludwig’s post for how to set the size way up to 72 in Writer by making use of Word.

And here is the screen grab of two of my favourite fonts for you ALL to see!
