Despite this challenge being my own suggestion, I really have had a very difficult time with this one, because it has been a very hard decision to make as to which one application IS my ‘must have’. You see, I really have two applications that I wouldn’t really be without and that I would miss if they weren’t available. Those two applications are Windows Live Mail, because its the first application I open once I have logged on to my computer, so that I can check ALL of my e-mails and also my ‘What’s new with my Network’ and news feeds, and the other application is called Flock and its an internet browser. Because we have to choose just one for this challenge I have decided to go with Flock simply because it allows me to access ALL of the things I am interested in in one place.
In fact as far as I’m aware, its the only application available that allows you to see any updates from all of your social networking sites, your favourite websites, all of your RSS feeds, any new photographs that your friends post to Facebook, twitter, Digg, flickr, Picasa, Photobucket, YouTube etc, it really is so comprehensive in content. Some who have tried it have actually criticized this ability as being too ‘busy and crowded’ but that of course entirely hinges on just how many social websites you are actually on.
There are lots more features than I can possibly mention here contained inside Flock, like being able to post to Wordpress, Blogger or LiveJournal for example straight from its built in blog editor (nowhere near as comprehensive and brilliant as Writer though, so no danger of it replacing that application any time soon!) the ability to upload your photos to flickr, photobucket etc via its inbuilt photo uploader, I could go on.
I just wish it was a desktop app instead of a browser, but should imagine that might be impossible to implement.
So there you have it, my ‘must have’ application is Flock , the social browser.
