I have been asked by one of my Spaces friends about a plug in that I use inside my posts called the Polaroid Picture plug in. So here is a how to use this plug in inside WRITER for your pictures that you might want to include in your posts.
1. First of all from inside WRITER, click on the ADD A PLUG-IN from the right hand side of the compose window.
2. You will then be taken to the WRITER GALLERY of plug-ins that you can add to WRITER to enable you to use extra features when writing your blog. You will receive a warning notice, but this plug in is fine to use as I have often made use of it with no problems whatsoever, so I usually click on RUN but you can SAVE it if you want to scan it for any reason.
3. Once the plug in is downloaded and installed it will appear in the list underneath the INSERT area to the right of the compose screen.
4. Now we will insert a POLAROID picture and try all the things out that come with this plug in. For example we can tilt our POLAROID PICTURE, we can include a CAPTION underneath it, change the FONT of the caption and the colour of the font used. We can also put some fancy holders at each corner of our picture, so lets try all of these features out!
5. Click on POLAROID PICTURE from the list under the INSERT list.
6. Now choose the picture that you want to show as a POLAROID PICTURE inside your post from your picture folders.
7. The picture will then be placed inside your post in WRITER and a new MENU of choices will now be available for you to alter your picture when you click on it. At the top of the new MENU of choices is the SIZE choice where by clicking on the small black arrow to the right hand side of the size box (currently set at SMALL which is the default size) you will be able to access a drop down list of other sizes which are as follows, Microscopic,Tiny, Small (default) Medium, Large and lastly CUSTOM which allows you to choose your own size for the POLAROID PICTURE. I would advise trying all of these out until you are satisfied with its size.
8. The next choice in the Menu is CAPTION which allows you to add some text at the bottom of your POLAROID PICTURE, so type in some text inside the box, perhaps the name of the picture for example. I’ll type in ‘Yorkshire Dales from the train’ and then tick the box next to SHOW CAPTION. Yes that looks okay, but lets try changing the font used and the colour.
9. Click on the FONT box to open up the FONT window. You will then be able to choose which FONT you want the CAPTION in and also the colour of your font. Try the different fonts out to see which looks best with that particular picture and also try them in different colours until you are happy with the finished result. Then click on OK.
10. Now let’s try out the TILT feature. Under the TILT choice is a slider bar which is currently set at 0. So just click on the slider (it will turn blue) and holding down the left button of your mouse, move it slightly to the right or left. You will see the degree of TILT shown just above the slider bar. You can continue right to the end of the slider bar to see how it affects your picture. The maximum amount that you can TILT the picture is either 10 degrees to the left or right.
11. As usual you can also choose to have your text ‘wrap around’ to the right hand side of the picture or to the left. This is chosen from the three TEXT FLOW boxes below the TILT slider. Do note that your text formatting can sometimes be upset by the TILT feature and also by the CAPTION feature when you choose to have TEXT FLOW or ‘wrap around’, but this can be easily rectified by tilting the picture back to 0, then beginning the TILT again in order to re-align your text formatting.
12. The last choice in the POLAROID PICTURE menu is STYLE. This is where you can add some CORNERS to your POLAROID PICTURE which then make it look as if it is actually fastened into an Album. So just click inside the STYLE box and choose either NORMAL, which is no corners, or RED or BLACK corners, and these will be added to the corners of the picture. Doesn’t it look effective! And helps to make your blog look so much more attractive and interesting to read!
