Here is a real creative way to add color to a Black and White photo. The idea being to highlight something in particular by adding color but keeping the rest of the image Black and White.
Here are the steps to follow:
1. In Windows Live Photo Gallery, open a photo and then click on Extras and then select open in paint.
2. With that same photo in Windows Live Photo Gallery, convert it to black and white.
3. Open this black and white version in paint (Extras-Open with-Paint) - now we have the same photo opened twice in paint, once in color and once in black and white.
4. On the color photo locate the object(s) you want to remain colored.
5. Use the Free form select tool to trace the object. Be sure to click on the Transparent option which is circled in red in the following picture. Ensure you have a steady hand when doing this!
6. Go to the Edit menu and select Copy.
7. Click on the black and white photo and select Edit and then Paste. Be sure to click on the Transparent option.
8. Move the object to where you want to position it and then select Save as to save your image with a new file name.
Explore your creativeness and color as many different items in the image as you wish.
Thanks to Ryan Nelson, Techspert for the steps on how to create this colorful effect.
