Windows Live Writer offers some fun options and so does Windows Live Photo Gallery. Here I will start in Photo Gallery and select some photos. Clicking the Make command offers several options. What I want to demonstrate is Make a blog post.
Now if you selected at least three pictures you get this dialog:
Inline Images is nice, but choosing Photo Photo Album is more fun. Live Writer opens, looking about like this:
Quite pretty! Clicking on the picture display gets Photo Album tools including Album style: This selects how the display looks in the blog. The default is Spread as shown above.
If you have selected a large number of photos the Fan option might be nice. Scatter is always interesting.
There is a Change cover picture option. You have to click this repeatedly to find the display you like best. The Edit Photo Album tool allows modifying the album, you can add or remove pictures, and you can specify the album name. Using this tool is optional, of course.
If you do make changes, the album name is required. You can resize and reposition the array. The View Full Album link will be placed as shown.
When you are ready to publish your blog post, just click Publish. If you have not named the album a dialog will request you to do so. Two things happen next: The album is created in your SkyDrive and the blog is published to your Spaces page. (Yes, there are other options, but here I just go with these.)
This is fast and easy! Nice integration and interaction between Windows Live Photo Gallery, Live Writer and SkyDrive!
